A landmark study from independent research institute SRI International, for the first time systemically examining the status of arts education in California, reveals that the vast majority of California's schools fail to meet state standards for teaching the arts, and that access to arts instruction varies widely among the state's schools.

CCSESA Task Force report. pdf
The Task Force reviewed the latest research on the impediments that schools face in fully implementing comprehensive arts education programs. Task Force members developed high priority recommendations to improve arts education policy and implementation at the state level. The recommendations focused on much-needed policies and initiatives to support implementation of the arts in the core curriculum so that every student is engaged in a rich visual and performing arts education.
